FMS Solutions Inc. has agreed to acquire United Natural Foods Inc.’s Retail Accounting Services Division, where retail accounting teams in Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Anniston, Alabama, Champaign, Illinois, and Hopkins, Minnesota, will become FMS subsidiaries.
UNFI is the largest publicly traded grocery distributor in America.
The transaction — expected to be completed by June 6, 2020 — makes the second acquisition of the year for Fort Lauderdale-based FMS, accelerating its growth strategy. FMS’s position as a retail accounting provider combined with UNFI’s diversified customer portfolio should help more independent retailers succeed.
UNFI’s retail accounting employees are being offered continued employment with FMS and will transition when the transaction closes in June.
FMS will now support over 5,000 stores and approx. 25 percent of independent grocery sales in the US.
