John advises public and private corporations, private equity funds and investors on deal structures, capital formation, acquisitions and dispositions, corporate finance, operations and governance matters. His clientele includes start-up and emerging companies seeking capital, established corporate entities, and commercial interests seeking growth through acquisition, partnership, and consolidation of resources.
A significant portion of John’s practice focuses on “off-market” or distressed acquisitions, assisting clients in acquiring distressed assets, often through Section 363 of the Bankruptcy Code. These transactions include significant acquisitions in traditional and non-traditional energy.
As a former CPA, John brings extensive, real-world financial experience to his clients’ representation and an ability to understand the financial impacts of deal structures. He often consults with directors, auditors, and committees on both compliance and investigative protocols and corporate governance issues.

Paul Ahn joined Lockton in 2021 and works as a Managing Director on the industry-leading Transaction Liability team. Previously, he worked as an M&A Attorney at the global law firm, DLA Piper, where he represented several underwriters in the transaction liability industry as part of his practice.

Robert Fortier is a Director on Bow River Capital’s Private Equity team. In this role, Robert is responsible for originating and executing investments in private businesses utilizing complex financial valuations, comprehensive company and industry analysis and structural, tax and financial considerations.
Robert currently serves on the Board of Directors of NextEdge Networks. He also served on the Boards of prior portfolio companies RailPros and Veregy.
Prior to joining Bow River Capital, Robert worked for McCarthy Capital, an Omaha-based private equity firm focused on lower middle market companies with more than $1 billion of investment capital under management.
Robert received a M.S. in Finance and B.S. degrees in Finance and Economics from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.

David Hirschhorn has over 30 years of executive experience in various industries, including health care, technology, and financial services. He has held significant roles such as Chairman, CEO, and CRO, and has been involved in over $2 billion in financings, mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings. Currently, he is the President of Amara Structured Capital. He began his career as a consultant for KPMG and Deloitte & Touche and later worked at investment firms like Nikko Securities and Roth MKM. He holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Michigan and is active in charitable donations related to Type I Diabetes, Celiacs, and educational projects for neuro-divergent students.
